CAR TRANSHIPMENT
Malta's strategic location, in the middle of the Mediterranean Sea, is on the major sea routes between the Atlantic and the Far East. Malta is therefore ideally placed for short-sea services to South Europe and North Africe, as well as deep-sea services world-wide.
To further increase maritime activity, the Malta Maritime Authority built a Car Transhipment Centre in the Grand Harbour for regular transhipment connections by sea carriers.
The Grand Harbour provides a safe entry for deep-sea carriers and it is also deep enough alongside the pier for transhipment carriers. Furthermore, the distance from the pier to the storage area is short, thus reducing the risk of damage.
